One of the most difficult hurdles for a business is obtaining start-up funding, particularly for those who do not have access to traditional capital such as a bank loan. That is the vision behind Ignite Capital. The program is managed by Business In The Streets (www.businessinthestreets.com) which helps enterprising youth and other populations facing barriers to employment through an innovative approach to education, financial support and peer-mentorship. By removing these barriers and providing access to multiple opportunities, BITS contributes to the overall economic prosperity and quality of life. Applicants have a chance to compete for up to a $15,000 award (part grant/ part loan). Judges will be looking for candidates to showcase their great idea, as well as their business expertise and passion to succeed. They will also need to demonstrate that they do not have access to traditional capital such as bank loans, lines of credit, family funding, etc.
