We are a private humanitarian organization that performs sea rescue in the Mediterranean and operates in the Search and Rescue Zone nearby Libya, an area where medical support and distress rescue are deeply needed. We locate the people in need, pick them up and provide help to them in our ship's hospital. The second part of our organization is our pan-european network of ambassadors, former crewmembers and volunteers that represent the association in public to draw attention to the importance of sea rescue. They collect donations and host events in order to make our shared values civic. Our members interact with the help of our internetplattform "Jugend Rettet Europe" to overcome long distances from one country to another and to take active part in the organizations political process. Our organization is independent of parties or political foundations and is financed exclusively by donations from private individuals who wish to support our strong belief in human rights.
