Karin dom is an active civil organization, based in Varna, Bulgaria, with a leading role in providing professional social, health and educational services for children with special needs and their families for 20 years now. The mission of Karin dom is to support the social inclusion of children with special needs and their families through professional services, advocacy, raising public awareness. The main activities are realized by a centre for providing services for children with special needs and their families, by a resource and training centre and by Department for early intervention. We work with children with physical, mental and multiple disabilities, with Autism spectrum disorders, with behavioral problems and learning difficulties. The team consists of special teachers, social workers, physiotherapists, speech therapists, psychologists, music therapists, who work together with children and their families in both individual and group sessions. In 2010 Karin dom launched its Early Intervention Program interdisciplinary coordinated service in support of families of infants and children aged 0-3 who have concerns about their childs development. https://karindom.org/en/early-intervention/ - Since our establishment in 1996 til the end of 2016 more than 1900 children and their families have used the services of Karin dom. The children which have been integrated in mainstream kindergartens and schools are about 220. - The number of trained specialists and parents to this moment exceeds 2,300. - Over 1,800 students are introduced to the activities of Karin Dom since our establishment. - Over 470 are the volunteers from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Germany, England, USA, France, Japan, Holland, Cyprus, etc., which contribute to our cause. - For the past 4 years we have provided 136 consultations to parents on prevention of abandonment of infants born with disabilities, as an extension to our Early Intervention Program.
