Kent and Medway Progression Federation (KMPF)

The Kent and Medway Progression Federation is a collaborative partnership of higher education providers, colleges, schools, and community organisers working together to ensure young people from all backgrounds can reach their true potential. We work collectively with higher education providers, colleges, and schools to deliver a range of activities and events for young people who might not access higher education due to a number of reasons. KMPF was originally established in 2011 when the government’s national Aimhigher programme came to an end. It was one of just a handful of remaining partnerships in England to continue beyond the end of central government funding in 2011, thanks to the support and contributions of our member organisations. Its longevity evidences the commitment and passion of colleagues within our partner universities towards ensuring that every young person in our area who has the potential to benefit from higher education (HE) – particularly those currently under-represented – is aware of the opportunities available and can make an informed choice about their future. Today, we are proud to work with over 70 schools across Kent and Medway through our two targeted widening participation projects: KMPF, which is funded and delivered by our partner institutions, and KaMCOP, which is part of the Office for Students (OfS) Uni Connect Programme. In addition to delivering this targeted outreach through our school partners, we provide information, advice, and guidance for anyone from Kent and Medway who needs support exploring their post-16 and post-18 education options.
