The CTBE is a National Laboratory located inside of the National Center for Research in Energy and Materials' (CNPEM) campus. The CTBE's focus is to develop leading research in biomass focused on energy production, especially sugarcane ethanol. The Laboratory has a unique environment for the staging of technologies (Pilot Plant), aiming the transfer of processes from the scientific bench to the productive sector. The CTBE board consists of a total of 122 Professionals divided among Technicians, Specialists and Researchers, as well as 79 Scholars.
