The mission of the Leon County Property Appraiser is to locate, identify and appraise all property for tax purposes, produce and maintain an equitable tax roll, and administer property tax exemptions. We assess over 109,000 parcels annually, and this is accomplished under the leadership of the Honorable Dr. Akin Akinyemi. Our office strives to be a leader in local government and assessment administration, and this commitment earned us the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration from the International Association of Assessing Officers. This award is in recognition of utilizing best appraisal and assessment practices. In 2012, our office became the 11th jurisdiction nationally to earn the certificate since the inception of the program, and the 8th jurisdiction in Florida.
