Limingan kunta - Municipality of Liminka

Liminka is a municipality of 10 000 inhabitants located 20 minutes south from the city of Oulu on the shore of the Liminka Bay. Liminka is 542 years old and one of the oldest towns in Finland, yet has the youngest population in the whole of Finland. The average age in Liminka is below 30 years and 41 percent of the municipality's population is under 19 years old. Liminka is a top location for nature, sports and outdoors enthusiasts. The area offers great summer and winter sports activities and locations from football, ice hockey to cross-country skiing. The municipality has a vibrant culture life throughout the year. Liminka Bay is the most important wetland area for birds in Finland. Every year, thousands of swans and geese rest at the Liminka Bay and you can see more than 160 species of birds in their natural habitat.
