Mental Health Innovations

mental health innovation (mhi) is an independent charity whose primary purpose is to research, develop and deliver technology innovations in mental health. the intention is to invest in innovations which have been co created by the ultimate users of the technology, in partnership with experts from the mental health and technology sectors. the development of new technologies is expensive and out of the reach of most charities. mhi will work to make new technologies available to organisations across the sector. mhi was established in november 2017 with a substantial grant from the royal foundation of the duke and duchess of cambridge and prince harry. in may 2018, mhi began piloting its first service, shout, a 24/7 digital mental health text line for people in crisis. the service is available for anyone, anytime, anywhere. trained volunteers, supervised by a highly skilled clinical team, respond immediately to people in crisis via sms and instant messaging. our volunteers and clinical teams all work remotely through the online platform, enabling us to recruit staff and volunteers from across the country. more information about shout can be found on the web at www.giveusashout.org, on instagram at @giveusashoutinsta and on twitter on @giveusashout.
