Mid-Atlantic ProTel was established in 1996 by Carroll Butler in the Martinsburg mall. In October 2003, Carroll Butler retired from ProTel, leaving the companies operation to his son Bryan. As an authorized AT&T retailer, ProTel has expanded across the four-state.
