Established in 2008, the Collaborative contributes to the elimination of health disparities and the attainment of optimal health. To achieve these goals, the NHIT Collaborative promotes the use of health information technology (HIT) by and for the underserved, with an emphasis on communities of color. NHIT Collaborative works in partnership with organizations and individuals to assure that providers and consumers in these communities benefit equitably from HIT advances and resources. The Collaborative supports the full engagement of multicultural populations with respect to HIT planning, adoption and use; education and outreach; workforce development/training; policy development/implementation; finance/sustainability; and research and evaluation.
