Younger buyers who were seeking their first classical recordings during the heyday of the CD turned to Naxos as a matter of course; for more seasoned collectors, it was the go-to label for sampling unknown music without having to spend a small fortune. Since then, the Naxos Group has evolved in so many ways. Naxos was the first record company to make its entire catalogue available for streaming over the internet, in 1996. Millions of past and present music students know the Naxos name from having used the Naxos Music Library, which was launched in 2003, and is used by many universities, libraries and music schools.
