Founded on the timeless, worldwide legacy of Florence Nightingale, the Nightingale Initiative for Global Health (NIGH) is a catalytic grassroots-to-global movement to: • DARE to tell the untold & forgotten stories of global health • CARE to engage and empower the public voices of nurses, midwives & concerned citizens • SHARE this opportunity with everyone — everywhere! With its founding in 2004, NIGH established the 'Nightingale Declaration for a Healthy World' — an online commitment from more than 22,000 nurses, midwives and concerned citizens in 106 nations. Across the world, an estimated 35 million nurses and midwives — plus these students [more than 60,000 in the US alone] — are looking to find Internet content relevant to their interests and concerns. Through NIGH's growing grassroots-to-global team, we are aiming to achieve a powerful interactive, informative and inspired online presence to engage and empower as many as possible in effective care, concern and commitment for global health issues.
