Established in 1905, after taking over a business established in 1874, and still owned today by the Nimon family. Based in Whakatu, Hawkes Bay is the main office, depot, and workshop facilities. Additional depots in Napier and Taupo that operate school buses and luxury coaches. The Company operates a fleet of over 100 vehicles in a variety of capacities, sizes and styles. The Company is believed to be the oldest established passenger service operation under continuous private ownership in New Zealand. Nimon and Sons is a Luxury Passenger Transport Company operating in three main sectors; Coach tours and charter services, School transport and Private contracts for staff transport. The Whakatu Depot has a fully fitted heavy-vehicle workshop and paint /panel shop maintaining the bus and coach fleet to higher than Certificate of Fitness standards. A wide range of work is carried out on the companys own vehicles, commercial companies fleet and the publics personal vehicles. With an onsite brake testing machine that can do pre-COF checks, approved Warrant of Fitness testing centre, an extra-large paint booth suitable for cars to large commercial vehicles and full insurance accredited paint and panel shop. A 24-hour workshop call-out service is also operated to look after our commercial fleet partners Holding a current Transport Service License, as well as a Vehicle Rental License, these satisfying legislative requirements for us to operate our business. Workplace Training and Assessment is provided within the company to NZQA standards, enabling our drivers to excel at their job. The Company is a member of the Bus and Coach Association of NZ, Tourism Industry Association of NZ, Cruise New Zealand, Hawkes Bay Tourism and Conference & Incentive New Zealand. We are Qualmark Visitor Transport endorsed and very proud to have been awarded a Enviro Silver endorsement, for meeting the very high environmental standards of Qualmarks environment assessments.
