The stunning cathedral is one of the finest examples of Romanesque buildings in Europe, with the highest Norman tower and largest monastic cloisters in England, and is steeped in history having survived riot, war, plague and fire. There is a Herb garden and Japanese garden to discover and the Cathedral Library is open to all, providing access to over 30,000 books. The Hostry, opened in 2009, combines old and new architecture providing a stunning venue for exhibitions, conferences, meetings, wedding receptions and private functions. The award winning Refectory Restaurant and Cafe is open to the public on a daily basis and also available for private hire and offers a spaces and airy place to meet combined with freshly cooked food, using local and seasonal produce. Located within the Nave, the Cathedral Shop contains a range of unique locally sourced products.
