NSW Food Authority

The NSW Food Authority is the government organisation that helps ensure NSW food is safe and correctly labelled. It works with consumers, industry and other government organisations to minimise food poisoning by providing information about and regulating the safe production, storage, transport, promotion and preparation of food. The Authority’s activities include regulating 55,000 food businesses in NSW, investigating complaints and cases of food poisoning, operating a helpline, managing a partnership with local councils, coordinating NSW product recalls, and running consumer and industry information programs. The Authority is in the primary industries portfolio of The Hon Niall Blair MLC. Its head office is in the Sydney suburb of Newington. There are also eight regional offices: Coffs Harbour, Dubbo, Queanbeyan, Taree, Wollongbar, Newcastle, Wagga Wagga and Wollongong.
