Over 10,000 people visit the show over the 3 day show period proving that art is for everyone. Since it all began in 2004, The NZ Art Show is proud to be accessible, affordable, and reputable as a true representative of New Zealands diverse and unique artistic community. Artworks are priced between $50 and $5,000, unchanged since 2004, and the average price is $600. Over the past 10 years the NZ Art Show has grown in size, reputation and quality to become one of New Zealands leading arts and cultural events. Nearly 7 million dollars has been returned to artists in art sales and around $60,000 in art prizes awarded, helping to support and maintain a thriving art community; nearly 14,000 artworks have been sold; and thousands of New Zealanders have been introduced to the joy of owning and collecting original art. The NZ Art Show is governed by the New Zealand Affordable Art Trust (NZAAT), a non-profit charitable organisation committed to celebrating New Zealand identity and culture through art and promoting New Zealand artists by providing opportunities to further their development. The Trust is a significant contributor to the arts community. The NZ Art Show receives no government funding: all the costs of running the show are covered by sponsorship, grants, art sales, donations and ticket sales.
