ONA is as an independent agency directly accountable to the Prime Minister. ONA assesses and analyses international political, strategic and economic developments for the Prime Minister and senior ministers in the National Security Committee of Cabinet. ONA coordinates Australia's foreign intelligence activities and evaluates the effectiveness of Australia's foreign intelligence effort and resourcing. ONA's Open Source Centre systematically collects, analyses and researches publicly available information to support Australian Government intelligence priorities and the work of the National Intelligence Community.
