Caring and creative Ottawa residents and community groups came together in 1987 because they saw a crisis in our community and knew we could do more to help people who were homeless. The group determined a solution beyond shelters was needed. They established Options Bytown to work towards a new answer to the homelessness crisis. Our first building opened its doors in the heart of Ottawa’s Byward Market in 1989. We've grown since then! Today, we: - Operate four supportive housing sites. - Run eight resource centres in Ottawa Community Housing buildings. - Support and house 150 people through our Housing First program. - Run a peer-to-peer program to help those with hoarding behaviours.
