Over Byen Arkitekter

Over Byen Arkitekter is an architectural studio which main focus is development of the existing building mass. We explore and develop the potential in preserved and protected buildings. The in-depth building knowledge combined with the desire to transform our protected building mass in to feasible and useable functions is what makes our hearts beat and at the same time makes the cultural buildings sustain relevant for our surroundings. We develop projects within construction, urban - and landscape planning and design. Our stronghold is to develop projects creating a relation between new construction and restoration. We work in close contact with clients and authorities to ensure optimal and feasible projects. We pay great attention to the interaction between the existing and the new, our projects tell a concise narrative and contain a clear identity. We work with emphasis on the interpersonal relationships within a project and relate this to a complexity of technical, economic, historical, social, and functional conditions. We design architecture that contribute to an aesthetic and functional framework for the individual developer and the final user. Moreover, OBA teaches at Lund's Technical University, Department of Architecture. We conduct lectures, critiques, planning, and we are an integral part of developing the study programme. We are members of The Danish Association of Architectural Firms.
