MISSION PIRC was founded in 1996 on the principles of service and access to justice in response to the detention of the refugees of the Golden Venture. Our principles guide PIRCs programs, protecting immigrants rights to freedom and opportunity in the United States, giving voice to the most vulnerable immigrants and their families. PIRC provides free, effective legal representation, legal services, education and advocacy to help immigrants obtain or protect their legal status. ABOUT The Pennsylvania Immigration Resource Center (PIRC) is nonprofit legal organization which works to provide access to justice for vulnerable immigrants including asylum seekers in detention and for domestic violence and sexual assault survivors in our community through legal services, education and advocacy: - Access to justice begins with an understanding of individual rights under law. PIRC educates immigrants in detention and in the community about their legal options. - PIRC provides access to justice through legal services direct representation, coordination of pro bono legal assistance, and pro se assistance. - PIRC advocates for greater capacity and systems change through language access assistance, partnerships with law schools and universities, and legal training and education.
