Many people know Perpich because of its outstanding two-year, residential arts high school. However, Perpich is a state agency, serving Minnesota not only with the school but also with a professional development division and a statewide arts education library. We partner with schools, teachers, arts organizations, museums and individual artists. The public high school consists of 11th and 12th grades with a student body comprised of students from throughout the state and numbering no more than 310 by state law. In addition to its rigorous academic program, Perpich Arts High School offers students the opportunity to pursue in-depth study in one of six arts fields: dance, literary arts, media arts, music, theater and visual arts. More than 80% of our graduates go on to postsecondary education. The professional development division includes numerous programs, partnerships, grants and opportunities for K-12 teachers in all of Minnesotas school districts. An arts integration project funded through the states Legacy Fund is part of the professional development group and its staff is currently working with schools and districts in the Lake Country region, southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Minnesota. The arts education library serves as the high schools library as well as a free public library open to all with thousands of arts education resources for teachers and teaching artists from around the state.
