Perth Garden Festival has long been regarded as the most prestigious and highly successful showcase for the horticultural industry in Western Australia. Established in 1972, the event formerly known as Garden Week began at the Claremont Showgrounds. After 15 years, the event outgrew the venue and was then relocated to Perry Lakes Reserve in Floreat. The event continued to grow in popularity and by 1998 attendance figures soared to 72,000.
