Pet Planet's story began with a loss. The loss of a pet to cancer, and a loss of faith in a system that was supposed to offer advice, education, and a place to go where pets and Guardians could find safe and trusted products for their pets. After the loss of our founders' dog, Rueben, to cancer, they found the system had failed to educate them, and other Guardians about the importance of pet food, and its impact on overall pet health. The system didn't make the pets they served a priority - it was just another business. This was simply not good enough. Pet Planet has changed the game and evolved what it means to serve our pets with passion, becoming an inclusive place for all Guardians to feel welcome. Founded in 1996, by a mother and daughter team with a passion for pets, every day our goal is to help pets live longer, healthier and happier lives. We believe the foundation for pet wellness comes from a balanced lifestyle that starts with a strong nutritional foundation focused on quality food, treats, and vitamins. We believe that any Guardian who wants to be able to make a good decision for their pet, can do so, and also, save money in the process. Guardians who enter our stores can find food, care, exercise, grooming, play, love, training and at home solutions for their pets. Our first Pet Planet location opened in Calgary, based on the principle of total pet health wellness through educating the Guardians we serve. Today, through passion and innovation, we have grown from one Calgary retail location to over 60 retail locations across North America and have earned the position of one of the most respected voices in the pet specialty retail industry today.
