Real Sitio de Ventosilla, makers of PradoRey and Recorba wines, is located 10 kilometers from Aranda de Duero; the winery site is part of a 16th Century palace, which has hosted the kings and queens of Spain, and today serves as a 19-room Royal Inn for guests to enjoy wine tourism and tastings. The winery owns the largest vineyard in Ribera del Duero with 1285 acres, divided into small parcels of espalier-trained, drip-irrigated vines allowing for optimum management of the growing cycle. 90% of the planting is Tinto Fino (with 10% of plantings dedicated to Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot), and several sites are planted with a 100-year old strain recovered by the winery. The wines -reds and roses- are rated among the highest from D.O. Ribera del Duero. Real Sitio de Ventosilla is the largest private farming estate in Northern Spain, with over 3.000 Ha. of land bordering the Duero river along 7km. Well known for its commitment with sustainable and environmentaly friendly policies, using solar power and a hidro-power station, the farm also has 800 cattle along with sheep, corn, beets, alfalfa, potatoes, sunflowers and more. PradoRey also has a cutting-edge design winery in D.O. Rueda, where the Verdejo and Sauvignon Blancs are produced.
