Proud2Be CIC is a social enterprise that supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, questioning, intersex &/or asexual+ (LGBTQIA+) people, in South Devon and beyond, to lead empowered, fulfilled and authentic lives. Inspired by their own experiences of bullying, discrimination and shame- gay, non-binary twins Jae & Max Price set up Proud2Be in 2011 when they recorded the first Proud2Be video. Since then several public figures and members of the general public have contributed to the campaign. Proud2Be facilitates various groups and events, including a social group, craft days, fundraiser discos and Totnes Pride. In 2014 Proud2Be launched its youth project which now includes a youth group, counselling & mentoring and a fortnightly sexual health drop-in. Proud2Be delivers workshops to school students and awareness training to organisations around the UK. In 2016, the social enterprise was announced as one of 12 organisations in the National Anti-HBT Bullying Alliance, an innovative schools project led by LGBT Consortium and funded by the Government Equalities Office. Following a successful trial in 2014, Proud2Be launched a campaign to install Europes first permanent rainbow crossing in Totnes. Proud2Be have also named award-winning human rights activist Aderonke Apata, international bestselling author Andrew Solomon, classical musician and activist CN Lester, human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, retired political trans activist Christine Burns MBE, as its patrons.
