This was created as a sister company to the Pfanner Comunications, Inc. (Est. 1979) to launch RACER Magazine. In January, 2001 the majority of the company was sold to UK-based Haymarket Media and in March, 2012 the company was reacquired by Pfanner and Sparks along with investors, Rob and Chris Dyson who were also involved during the original RACER era. Racer Media & Marketing Inc. publishes RACER Magazine, RACER.com and has also produced SPORTSCAR Magazine for the Sports Car Club of America since January 1984. RACER Magazine was chosen as one of the "12 Best Magazines in America"​ by Media Industry News in 1999. I July of 2019 the company acquired Vintage Motorsport Magazine and Vintage Motorsport.com. Today Racer Media & Marketing's motorsports media properties are widely recognized for their editorial and design excellence. In addition, the RACER Special Projects Studio produces custom content, print, digital and TV advertising and videos for clients including Chevrolet, IMSA, INDYCAR, Mazda, Porsche Motorsport North America and SRT. RACER's creative team has been led since 2004 by Editor-In-Chief Laurence Foster and RACER.com is under the direction of RACER Editor Mark Glendenning. SCCA's SPORTSCAR Magazine is Edited by Philip Royle. The RACER Special Projects Studio is under the creative direction of George Tamayo. RACER co-founder and acclaimed director/photographer Jeff Zwart remains a creative consultant to the company. Racer Media & Marketing's worldwide commercial activities are led by Global Sales Director/Executive Producer John Chambers in London, England. North American commercial activities are led by VP/Associate Publisher Bruce Kukuk and supported by Advertising Director Nicole Szawlowski and Business Development Director Raelyn Stokes in the Irvine, CA office.
