Rhode Island Council 94 AFSCME

Rhode Island Council 94 is one of the oldest and largest public employee unions in Rhode Island. We are made up of approximately 65 Local Unions in most state agencies and Cities and Towns in Rhode Island. We also represent Private Sector workers and workers in quasi-public agencies including the Narragansett Bay Commission and the Rhode Island Airport Corporation. Our Locals range in size from 8 members to more than 500 members. We have several contracts with the State of Rhode Island including a Master Contract covering more than 3,700 State employees and dozens of contracts in Cities, Towns and School Districts. Rhode Island Council 94 has a full time staff of 12 employees which includes field staff, attorneys, office workers and a political lobbyist. We are affiliated with AFSCME International which has more than 1.4 million members from Hawaii to Maine and Puerto Rico. Rhode Island Council 94 is dedicated to increasing its strength by bringing in new members through its organizing program. We also recognize that strength in the political arena is essential. Those who make the decisions regarding our pensions, health care, wages, and other benefits must be accessible to us. AFSCME and Rhode Island Council 94 are very active politically supporting elected officials who support us, and oppose those who work against us.
