roomforthoughts is the art practice of installation artist and artistic researcher Jennifer Kanary Nikolov(a). Roomforthoughts is at all times interested in the psychics of thought. How does a thought manifest itself? How is it Born? What is the power of thought? How does it affect our body? Roomforthoughts is currently following the trajectory of an artistic research PhD at Plymouth University, Planetary Collegium, M-Node Milan (2006-...). The research is called Labyrinth Psychotica. It investigates thoughts that are 'broken' with a focus on psychosis and schizophrenia as they are also known as 'thoughtdisorders'. Roomforthoughts is interested if an art experience is able to 'try on' the thoughts of others, by designing an experience that represents the others mental state. At the same time, roomforthoughts is interested in how this experience manifests itself in the brain of the other as a creative tool of empathy. As our minds have difficulty imagining what it is like to be the other, when the others experience is too far from our own, roomforthoughts aims to create an experience that acts as a prosthetic for our imagination. In order to position itself, the research studies multi-media psychosis simulation projects that have been developed in a scientific context, and makes a suggestion as to where these could be improved in relation to understanding the subjective experience of psychosis. currently doing an artistic reseaArtistic Research and Creative Think Tank
