Salt Lake CAP creates programs that empower low-income people & enhances the quality of their lives.They assist clients in designing and implementing strategies that will create solutions to their problems. CAP provides employment assistance, weatherization, food assistance, housing assistance, head start programs, and utility assistance. SLCAP also acts as public policy advocates. Their goal is to promptly stabilize a family in crisis and avoid the long-term consequences of costly dependency. Salt Lake Community Action Program supports a familys progress to self-sufficiency. Community Action Programs were founded across the United States over 35 years ago by Congress as a centerpiece of the War on Poverty. Since then over 1300 Community Action Programs have been founded. CAPs are funded by the Community Service Block Grant.
