Shri Shakti Alternative Energy

Shri Shakti Alternative Energy Ltd (SSAEL), is a part of the Shri Shakti Group, Hyderabad. SSAEL was incubated by the IFC, Washington, under a GEF program called Photo Voltaic Market Transformation Initiative (PVMTI) in the year 2000. SSAEL has implemented some of the first village electrification projects in Arunachal, Chattisgarh and Mizoram with solar PV during 2001-2004 and sold solar gadgets like cool caps, solar torches, solar lanterns, garden lights etc as consumer products without any subsidies. In view of the limited market for solar, SSAEL offered consultancy services to World Bank, USAID, UNIDO, ADB, IREDA, RERC etc. The PVMTI program did not make any significant impact and the real market transformation came after India launched Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) in Jan, 2010. SSAEL has developed a 100MW Rajasthan Solar Processing Zone under a MoU with the Rajasthan State Government. Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd, subsidiary of the largest private utility in India, Tata Power, is one of SSAEL's clients for a 50MW solar power project. SSAEL won the business plan competition at the Asia Clean Energy Forum, 2013 which was organized by ADB and USAID, and SSAEL's solar park project in Rajasthan was judged as one of the most promising clean energy investment opportunities in Asia. SSAEL also offers rooftop solar solutions for commercial consumers.
