In Malaysia, SMH Rail has established its name as the country's first manufacturer and assembler of metro trains under the MRT Line-1 project. Under the MRT Line-1 project, SMH Rail has delivered 58 train sets (232 cars) at its internationally certified electric train manufacturing facility located approximately 50km from the capital city, Kuala Lumpur. The facility is the only facility outside Europe to have been certified by Siemens. The technical experience and track record of completing MRT Line-1 project ahead of time had enabled SMH Rail to secure train modernization works for SMRT, Singapore. SMH Rail has permanent presence in various overseas locations outside Malaysia including Singapore, India, Tanzania, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Thailand, and Cambodia.
