The Society of Actuaries in Ireland is the professional body representing the actuarial profession in Ireland. The Society is dedicated to serving the public by fostering the highest standards of professionalism and competence in actuarial practice. The Society's Mission is to: * develop the role and standing of the actuarial profession in Ireland and enhance its reputation; * support actuaries throughout their career so that they have the skills, attributes and knowledge appropriate to both current and future needs of actuarial practice; * develop, maintain and enforce actuarial standards that require actuaries to advise their clients with integrity, professionalism and objectivity. The Society * establishes and maintains professional standards for the protection of the public * provides continuing professional education * creates forums for discussion about contemporary and relevant issues * promotes research and the development of actuarial science, and * makes informed contributions to the debate on issues of public interest The Society's membership currently comprises of over 800 Fellows resident in Ireland and 600 Students. In addition, there are approximately 130 Fellows who are non-resident but have business connections in Ireland. The Society has approximately 35 Associates and 30 Affiliates, as well as 8 Honorary Fellows.
