State Supervision of Mines (SodM) is committed to human safety and protection of the environment in energy production and the use of the subsurface. SodM is the independent supervisor of mineral and energy extraction in the Netherlands. SodM oversees safety and environmental protection in mining activities, the gas network and offshore wind. SodM not only supervises from a technical perspective, but also explicitly takes social interests into account in the supervision. In total, this concerns approximately 600 locations on land and another 150 locations at sea.
