Spare Parts Puppet Theatre is Australia’s Centre for Excellence in Puppetry, embracing performance making and presentation, artist training and development, making and design, creative learning for all ages, community cultural development projects, festival and event works that bring communities together, mentorships and internships, artist residencies and art form and sector development. At the heart of our artistic vision is a passion to bring audiences and artists together in a shared experience that speaks to who we are and what we aspire to be. Over the course of our 43 year history we have entertained and enriched the lives of tens of thousands of audiences members both in Australia and abroad. The company is lead by Artistic Director Philip Mitchell and Associate Director Michael Barlow who work with artists from our well-established and ever-growing pool of Associate Artists offering skills in writing, design & performance for puppetry. Our annual artistic program includes performances at our home theatre in Fremantle, our new theatre at Claremont Showgrounds, touring to schools, theatres and festivals across Australia and abroad, puppetry workshops for children and adults, and artists training and development programs. Through our various programs we have an annual audience and participant reach of more than 200,000 people locally, nationally and internationally.
