Spire Hartswood Hospital opened in 1983 and offers a comprehensive range of services and facilities to ensure fast diagnosis, treatment and recovery to patients from Brentwood and the surround areas. Our services are available to everyone whether or not they have private medical insurance. Patients funding their own treatment can pay a one-off fixed price, agreed in advance. All of our patients can choose their own consultant and arrange appointment and treatment times convenient for them, including evenings and weekends. We offer a variety of treatments, specialising in orthopaedic surgery, cancer care, cosmetic surgery, ophthalmology and general surgery. Our clinics and services include cancer treatment, continence services, dermatology, ENT clinics, Lifescan screenings, mens and womens health, physiotherapy, GP appointments and weight loss solutions. The Essex Bones and Joints Service specialises in musculoskeletal injury and illness. BUPA health assessments are also available through our Wellbeing department. In addition to three theatres operating six days a week, we have an endoscopy suite which offers diagnostic procedures such as gastroscopy and colonoscopy. For patients undergoing complex surgical procedures there is a high dependency unit, managed by specialist nurses. Our hospital is clean and safe and infection rates are very low with no reported case of MRSA bacteraemia since 2008. We recently received exceptional feedback from the CQC following an unannounced inspection in February 2014. In our 2013 patient satisfaction survey, 96% of patients said they felt safe and reassured by the nurses while 99% of patients expressed confidence in the nursing care they received. Spire Hartswood Hospital was the first private hospital in the UK to receive the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark for both oncology and breast care services.
