St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute

The St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute is an educational center providing psychoanalytically oriented, professional training and continuing education through graduate, post-graduate and community education courses. Our aim is to support healthy development of the mind and emotions. Dynamic partnerships are forged between therapist and patient, teacher and student, parent and child. Since its inception in 1956, the mission of the St. Louis Psychoanalytic Institute has been to promote mental health through psychoanalytic education, treatment, and investigation. The Institute’s primary goals are to: Train talented mental health professionals via a wide range of psychoanalytically focused education programs. These are designed to substantially strengthen the participants’ effectiveness in treating patients to help them work through their difficulties and lead more fulfilling, productive lives. Provide child educators and care givers an in-depth understanding of the issues and challenges of child and adolescent development in order for them to be more effective positive forces in every aspect of their work with children and families. Enrich individual and community life in the region through timely Lectures and Seminars that bring psychoanalytic insights to bear on core dilemmas and dimensions of human experiences. Minimize the costs to patients and expand the psycho-therapeutic services provided by the Herbert S. Schiele Clinic to segments of the community that are under-served but greatly in need of therapeutic services.
