STEM Forward

We inspire a future-ready STEM workforce. Founded in 1905 as Engineers & Scientists of Milwaukee, we are a nonprofit organization that supports and promotes educational programs and activities emphasizing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Your donations help us support technological literacy education so that Wisconsin youth will be prepared for the 21st Century workforce. We continue to face a crisis in the performance, participation of our students in STEM, creating a widely documented talent shortage. Many industry employers – manufacturing, construction, engineering, IT and health care firms– report not being able to find workers with STEM skills. At the same time, studies indicate that STEM jobs are high-paying positions that are expected to grow 55 percent faster than non-STEM jobs in the next 10 years. Now, more than ever, preparing youth for STEM skills for an increasingly technology-driven world is critical for all stakeholders. STEM Forward is taking action to create a future-ready STEM workforce by: • Engaging students to advance STEM competencies • Leading a collaborative approach to STEM talent development • Creating STEM awareness in the community • Optimizing the effectiveness of STEM programs Each year, we support the following programs to achieve our vision: - Future City Competition (Grades 6-8) - “Day of STEM” Program (Grades K – 12 served) - Contrapt Wisconsin Competiton – Middle School Program (Grades 6 - 8 served) Engineering Machine Design Contest (High School students served) - sySTEMnow Conference - Engineers Week Banquet - STEM Forward Invitational (Scholarship Fundraiser Golf Outing)
