Stepping Out Studios

Welcome to the Stepping Out family! Stepping Out Studios (SO) originally opened in 1985 as a small, boutique studio with big ideas and big dreams. From the beginning, our mission has been to introduce and spread the joy of partner dancing far and wide. To that end, we offer a full range of classes in partner dancing including both social and competitive styles of Ballroom Dancing, Argentine Tango, Swing, Salsa, Hustle, and Country Western. We strive to provide a fun and friendly environment in welcoming students of all backgrounds, professions, cultures, and walks of life, and cater to wedding couples and competitive and social dancers alike at every level, from those preparing for one special event, to those focused on honing their dance technique, to those party animals who want to cut loose with a night out dancing at any of our many parties. Stepping Outs credo is one of innovation, integrity, and warmth. We strive for excellence and feature instructors and resident coaches who are champions in their disciplines. Were always looking for ways to reach out to the community-at-large. Some of the ways weve extended the Stepping Out family include: Developing an educational outreach program especially designed for Tri-state area schools and school club affiliates Supporting local dance venues and introducing our students to the NYC dance community by organizing Stepping Out evenings out Offering periodic specialized workshops and dance weekends to increase our students connection to the wider dance world Making our world-renowned instructors available to teach, choreograph, and perform shows at hospitals, corporations, health clubs, art institutions, colleges, and high schools Spreading the word about the joy of dance by being featured in many multimedia projects, including television (e.g., Dancing With the Stars), radio, stage, and film.
