Story District

Story Districts mission is to build community, promote empathy, and enrich an understanding of our common humanity through the art of autobiographical storytelling. Through our classes and live performances we train and showcase storytelling talent in the Washington, DC area and create a platform for diverse perspectives. Named the "gold standard" in storytelling by the Washington Post and nominated for the 2012 DC Mayor's Arts Awards for Innovation in the Arts, Story District reaches an audience of more than 10,000 annually through the production of more than 25 performances, ongoing adult education classes, and custom trainings and performances for businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies. We value storytelling as a space for people to listen and be heard, connect with others, embrace different perspectives, examine their own lives, and explore what it means to be human. Story District offers customized trainings, customized presentations, and private coaching to teach you how to tell true stories that are authentic and compelling, and motivate others. Clients include American University, Armed Services Arts Partnership, Cisco, Environmental Protection Agency, Human Rights First, International Corporate Accountability Roundtable, Latino GLBT History Project, McCormick & Co, National Women's Law Center, NPR's Invisibilia Show, Ogilvy, Pew Charitable Trust, Sierra Club, and World Bank.
