te manu toroa trust

Western Iwi Health was established in 1997 to provide a Kaupapa Model of Health Care that linked and integrated services to Māori in the Tauranga and Te Puke areas, known as the Western Bay of Plenty. Results from a feasibility study highlighted alarming health statistics of Māori living in the rohe. The first priority was to establish GP Clinics. Key drivers were accessibility, affordability, services that were culturally appropriate and available in a culturally appropriate setting. GP surgeries are strategically placed throughout the rohe so that Māori have ease of access. The consultation fees are low and partnerships with Pharmacies allowing us to reduce prescription costs.
