Technology Entertainment Design (TED) is a non-profit organisation devoted to ‘ideas worth spreading’. What started as a four day conference in California a quarter century ago is now a global platform for innovation and ground-breaking thought. The annual TED conference invites the world’s leading ‘thinkers and doers’ to speak for 18 minutes or less. These talks are then released online at www.ted.com; building a clearinghouse of free knowledge from the world’s most inspired thinkers. The TEDx program gives communities,organizations and individuals the opportunity to create ‘TED-like’ experiences at the local level. Planned and coordinated independently all around the world, TEDx events are a unique gathering in your community that will serve to inspire and inform. TEDxUQ is an annual independently organised TEDx event that first started in 2011. Run entirely by a team of passionate volunteers, including undergraduate and postgraduate UQ students, TEDxUQ brings a TED-like experience to the UQ and wider Brisbane communities.
