Teen Living Programs (TLP) is a non-profit organization that has supported and strengthened Chicago's most vulnerable youth for four decades. Founded in 1976 by three young professionals, the organization has since grown to nearly 50 dedicated staff, two service sites on the south side of Chicago, hundreds of partners and supporters, and an extraordinary roster of program alumni who have unlocked their potential with the help of TLP. Today, TLP provides a safe, caring, and empowering community for young people age 14 to 24. TLP is focused on meeting the immediate needs of over 500 of these young people each year and working alongside them to help them build futures with promise. Our cutting-edge and outcome-driven programming encourages youth to focus their energy and drive on altering the course of their lives for the better. On any given night in Chicago, over 2,000 youth don't have a safe and stable place to call home. Some are escaping family conflict, abusive situations, or neighborhood violence; others have been kicked out because of their sexual orientation or for becoming pregnant. All are struggling with the trauma of homelessness, abandonment, and violence during the already challenging period of adolescence. All the young people we serve are provided with a path to permanent housing, the resources to go back to school and find a job, and the safety and security to pursue their dreams. TLP stands with youth on their journey to a home and a future with promise.
