Purpose built in the 19th century by Joséphine and John Bowes, the Museum has wonderful fine art, ceramics and fashion collections joined every year by an exciting programme of exhibitions and events. The Bowes Museum has a workforce of approximately 70 employees and over 100 volunteers, all of whom come from varying backgrounds and offer the Museum a diverse range of knowledge and skills.
