The Downtown Mission exists as a Place of Sanctuary. In response to the mandate of the Gospel, through outreach we provide: food for the body, nurture for the spirit, shelter for the homeless, advocacy for the impoverished, and opportunity for human growth. Last year (2017), Windsor’s Downtown Mission, through its various programs… - Provided 18,699 safe nights of shelter - Served 346,357 meals - Provided clothing to 15,389 individuals - Assisted 24 individuals to job readiness - Housed 43 individuals - Answered 2,343 Distress Calls and responded to 2,361 Distress Texts/Chats - Provided 2,430 hours of emotional support, crisis intervention, addiction and basic needs counselling - Filed 2,514 Tax Returns - Referred 381 Guests to Partner Agencies for further supports - Lifted up thousands by providing case management, education, work opportunities, rehabilitation and housing
