Prama Foundation is a registered charity that works closely with mainly older people, particularly those living with vulnerability or isolation in Dorset. Our Vision is: A world where no one is disadvantaged or excluded, because of age or infirmity, and where every person can enjoy life as they age. The Foundation is the overarching charity of the Prama Group: PramaCARE, established in 1982 by the late Dr. Chris Moran, is a charitable business which offers domiciliary care, enabling our clients to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Given Outstanding in care by the Care Quality Commission, we offer subsidised fees for those on low incomes or benefits. We also provide free hours for some of our most vulnerable clients to spend time with their care support worker doing something that makes them smile, such as a board game, a stroll in a garden, or just reminiscing over precious photos. PramaLIFE is our community outreach charity, running over 50 groups and clubs each week across Dorset. These include Memory Lane groups for those with Dementia, carers support groups, special interest clubs and health and wellbeing groups, such as the Up and Down groups for those in danger of falling. PramaTRADE is a limited company enabling us to develop income sustainable streams that support and contribute to our charitable aims. Currently, we have 7 charity shops in Dorset and a community café, Pennys, based in Ferndown, where we serve around 25,000 subsidised meals to older people. Many of those visit our café simply to have a conversation with another human being and their only hot meal of the day. PramaTRAVEL is also a limited company with charitable aims: We offer day trips and holidays to a wide range of people and focus on those who need care or support. Profits from Travel and Trade are used to support our charitable activities in Care and Life.
