The Science Corps

We provide an opportunity for recent PhD graduates, as Science-Corps Fellows, to teach science to underserved students and build science capacity globally. Our Mission: Science-Corps offers recent science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM) PhD graduates the opportunity to put their training to work in scientifically underdeveloped parts of the world for six months. Science-Corps Fellows will teach science to underserved students, build local science capacity, and inspire students to become future scientists. For the PhD scientists, this will provide a unique experience, broadening their scientific perspective and improving their communication/teaching skills. They will return with an expanded skill set, an increased awareness of the challenges and needs of underserved communities, and the satisfaction of having made a positive difference in the international community. Our Activities: 1) Places PhD scientists as Science-Corps fellows to both teach science to underserved students, and to develop curriculum and science infrastructure. 2) Broadens teaching skills, exposes participants to diverse experiences, and transforms Science-Corps Fellows into the next generation of global, scientific citizens.
