The YES Initiative

YES empowers undervalued youth scholar athletes to be confident using human skills to overcome challenges and accomplish their dreams. Instead of relying on pipelines to highly selective schools or choosing cohorts based on GPA/SAT/AP scores, we focus mentorship on life skills development. Through research and our pilot cohort, we have developed products within the program for scholar athletes to use: 1. Scholar Goal Planner - a virtual project manager for scholars to set goals, and mentors to guide the development of action items 2. Human Skill Matrix - the six core human skills we focus on are Time Management, Being Coachable, Being Proactive, Networking, Using a Support Network & Conflict Resolution. 3. The Visual Resume/Essay - an audio or visual representation of a resume or resume highlight. The purpose is to empower scholars with the tools to develop their own professional media. 4. YES Blog: providing youth with customized, high quality resources for human skill development, like our career readiness podcast lead hosted by YES Scholar Alumni Olivia Nda 5. WHOOP x Human Skills: still in development with our volunteer data consultant, this is a method that utilizes a popular and innovative wearable health/fitness tracker in conjunction with the YES Human Skills Matrix Established in 2018, YES Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
