Tigerair Taiwan is the first and only Taiwan-based low-cost carrier (LCC) based at Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport. It was formed as a joint venture between China Airlines Group and Tiger Airways Holdings. China Airlines Group holds 90 percent of the share while Tiger Airways Holdings holds 10 percent. Yet, Tigerair Taiwan is now fully owned branch of China Airlines since China Airlines has bought back the 10 percent share from Tiger Airways. Tigerair Taiwan received its Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aeronautics Administration (ROC) in September 2014. The airline commenced operations on 26 September 2014. To date, it has 11 Airbus A320 aircraft operating to 20 destinations, 27 routes, in Macau, North East Asia and South East Asia out of Taipei, Taichung, and Kaohsiung in Taiwan with more than 6.5 million passengers. Tigerair Taiwan has one of the youngest fleets of aircraft in the region with an average fleet age of 3.1 years.
