Trenord

To develop and optimise the railway service in Lombardy. With this goal, in 2011, Trenitalia and Gruppo FNM combined their experience and industrial assets creating TRENORD. A limited liability company, TRENORD has two shareholders each with an equal interest of 50%. Everyday 2,300 Trenord trains travel around Lombardy, carrying over 800,000 passengers. Every year, our trains are used by over 200 million people. One quarter of these, about 50 million, are not commuters but leisure customers. They use the railroad to reach Lombardy's marvellous destinations all over the region: art cities, lakes and mountains. Our service counts 39 lines and 61 routes, which serve more than 400 stations all over Lombardy; 8 lines go as far as Piedmont (Vercelli, Novara, Alessandria, Domodossola), Emilia Romagna (Piacenza and Parma) and Veneto (Verona). Our offer consists of three types of service: Regional, RegioExpress and Suburban. Trenord is also involved in two other new segments of mass public mobility: airport and cross border transport. The Malpensa Express (147 trains daily) guarantees connections with Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 of the intercontinental airport from the stations of Milano Cadorna, Centrale, Garibaldi and Bovisa. While through the TILO company (which holds a 50% stake in FFS - Ferrovie Federali Svizzere) Trenord offers a cross border service between Italy and Switzerland, on the Milano-Como-Bellinzona line. In partnership with German DB and Austrian OBB railway companies, Trenord runs 16 trains directly to Vienna and Innsbruck, with its own personnel as far as Brenner Pass and Tarvisio Pass, departing from Rimini, Bologna, Verona, Udine and Venice.
