Turk Kauffman Architecture is a full-service architecture firm. Turk Kauffman is a registered architect in the state of California with over twenty-five years of architecture experience. Lauri Puchall holds a Masters in Architecture from the University of California Berkeley and has worked over 20 years in architecture and design. Projects range from residential to commercial and institutional throughout the San Francisco Bay Area and New York. The firm welcomes jobs of all types and scales including adaptive reuse of existing buildings, interiors, outdoor features, furniture design, lighting and planning. Analyzing spaces from the inside out, we focus on improving organization and versatility while keeping environmental footprints small. Other themes running through the work are outdoor living, daylight, LED lighting, custom built-in furniture and design for art. Through hands-on experience getting projects through building departments and other regulatory agencies, we streamline the permitting process for our clients. Founded in the East Bay in 2001, the firm has successfully completed projects in Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont, Kensington, Walnut Creek, and Orinda as well as Sunol, San Francisco, incorporated and unincorporated Marin. Weaving sustainability and material ecology into every building, we meet or exceed energy and clean building standards. As advocates for full-material disclosure of building products we promote the least toxic options and design for the safe use of computers, cell phones and other technology. Clients include non-profit nature preserves such as Audubon Canyon Ranch and Marin Agricultural Land Trust as well as businesses like the Cowgirl Creamery. We enjoy collaborating with builders, artists, and other creative professionals who choose active participation in the design of their homes, workplaces and public spaces.
